Happy Labor Day!  However, it was a regular work day for me and that goes for my rehab on my left hamstring.  Speaking of the devil, it was pretty sore and stiff today when I rolled out of bed, probably because I gave it very little rest this weekend (I remember the same sore-stiff feelings at the beginning of last week).  Anyways, I kicked off my holiday by biking to work, then during my late lunch break, I ran over to the airport bike path and to the west end of the Wing Point golf course before heading back.  The total distance of this run was 2.7 miles.  Also, my hamstring seemed to relax a little bit after a mile or so.

For the second half of my running workout, I hit the elliptical machine for 3.5 miles while watching CNN.  Afterward my hamstring seemed to be a little bit sorer.  I’m guessing it’s getting tired of the elliptical too.

Finally, for my non-running workout, I completed 300 sit-ups and 30 push-ups.

a regular work day for me as well, on this fine-weathered labor day.

hope that hamstring keeps on healing -- you seem to be doing all the right things to help it get better yet still keep the fitness up.

Looks good Rossy! The fact that it gets better as the run goes on bodes well for a full recovery!! Do you have a trigger point ball (or baseball)? it really can help to loosen up those knots before you run (don't use it in front of any friends that you don't want to see you cry ;-)).

If you want to give Active Release Techniques (ART) a try, give me a private message and I will get you in touch with someone there in SLC -- it is going to sound weird when I tell you where he is, but he is legit (weird, but legit).

Thanks Allie and Bonnie! I know, it was a great Labor Day and I wish I was up to running more miles outside.

Allie, by the way, I think you can knockout a 5k this Saturday and still be ready to rock the TOU. I usually cut off my speed workouts Thursday or Friday the week before a marathon. Saturday is pushing a little bit, but I think you would still have time to recover and have a strong kick for the last 10k of the TOU.

Bonnie, it's great to read that you were able to get in 7-miles the other day without too much pain! Yesterday, for me the first mile was still difficult on the treadmill, but then for the first time in a few weeks I was sort of able to get into a running rhythm which felt great! Also, I'll tryout the baseball and one of my friends informed me of ART a few weeks ago. I still need to do some more research on it.

Keep up the running!
