Today was my first full day back in Salt Lake City; therefore, I slept in this morning after a late night of unpacking.  Consequently, I went for an afternoon run up to the Holladay Library to return a few books then over to Sugar House Park.  Once at the park, I completed three laps around the park’s outer trail.  The temperatures got up into the 90s (i.e., much hotter than Central Oregon), so I was really feeling on my run from the park back to home.  Overall, I was able to get in 17.55 miles at an easy pace.  Also, this was the longest, non-elliptical run that I was able to get in since pulling my left hamstring, thus progress towards getting aback into marathon form!

For my non-running workout, I was able to complete 300 sit-ups and 30 push-ups while watching my Broncos lose a tough game to the Colts.

Also, it seems like we run in the same area of town, so I'm sure I'll run by you one of these days. Needless to say, it was so hot in Sugar House Park on Sunday (i.e., I had gotten use to the sunny and 60s weather in Oregon). By the way, I just noticed that you ran Eugene this year and from talking to a runner at a Bend shoe store (who also ran Eugene this year), finishing on Hayward Field is pretty awesome (especially with the big screen and crowd)! I would love to run this marathon one of these years, but I'm not sure about that bike path part you described in your report (i.e., paved trails in marathons always equals slowness for me).

Finally, way to fight through the dizziness and weakness on Tuesday, absolutely a sign of a lack of food (i.e., I have had this feeling a couple of times when I go without food for awhile then I realize I need to get in a run before eating a meal). Happy running!

yes, running in eugene and finishing at hayward field was a really fun experience. the course isn't too bad, but the bike path can get hard in those final miles. overall though, i think it's a pretty fast course. i had a bad race this year so i would like to go back when i am in better shape and see what i can do on a course closer to sea level.

If you are ever looking for a flat, sea-level course on the East Coast, Philly is great marathon. RW recommended it as a London-like course, so I gave it a try last year. There are a few minor hills on the first half, but the second half is just flat and great scenery. I did not achieve my goal of running a PR, but it's absolutely a PR course. Run on!
