For the first time since November 2009, I headed out for a sub-6:00-am training run.  The temperature was 34 degrees; therefore, I covered a relatively quick 3.4 miles (the course: to Millcreek Elementary, up to 1500 East and back to home by way of Big Cottonwood Park) in a time of 23:08 in order to just stay warm (one mile at marathon pace and the rest at a fast-easy pace).  It was a great wake-up and I’m looking forward to an interval workout on the treadmill after work.

Late in the afternoon, I fulfilled my speed play aspiration by completing 6 miles of half-mile intervals (i.e., the slow halves at 9.0 miles per hour, while the fast halves at 11.0) in 35:47.  This is a personal record for fastest six miles on a treadmill and I was feeling it; that is, sweat clouded and stung my eyes as I grinded the last two miles out.  Following a 0.2-mile cool-down at marathon pace, I called it a day and headed home

Finally, for my daily non-running workout, I accomplished 300 sit-ups, 30 push-ups, 80 (50 lbs) curls, and 60 (50 lbs) reverse curls.

The slower at 9 miles per hour? That is SLOW???? That is about my all out sprint speed. INCREDIBLE!

Welcome to the before 6 am crowd, too!

Kelli, almost two weeks until Patriots Day!!! You'll have to tell me which part of the course you liked the best (you don't hear a lot about them, but I thought the Boston College students were just crazy loud). Also, for me, less than two weeks until the SLC Marathon, yikes! With all the mileage that we put in over the winter, I guess it's time to have some fun! Also, it's great to be in the sub-6:00-am club even if I'm only a part-time (i.e., 2-3 miles) member.

Mogli, it's totally on! You and TPB absolutely inspired me. Plus, it feels pretty good to get in some miles before work. I cannot wait until the Wasatch Back, we are going to make quick work of ascending and descending Guardsman Pass.

Kelli, thinking about the Wasatch Back, are you getting your rematch with The Ragnar? I was lucky enough to hand this one off to Mogli; that is, I'll be taking on the leg prior to The Ragnar (i.e., what we nicknamed as Ragnar's Little Sister). Fun times!

We have not picked out legs yet, but I think I want the same one. Although, i would prefer Ragnar's little sister, you get a little lead off into that one before the climb starts. I dunno, if it is hot, that mountain will just be awful! We were so lucky to have rain last year, and i did not even take advantage of it!!!

Yes, the rain was great; that is, not only did it cool things down, but you feel all tough when running in the rain. We'll see what type of weather we get this year, probably extremely hot and dry. Also, did your WB team submit your requested start times yet? I never received any notification to submit these yet, but I heard that they have already run some forecasts to determine start times; therefore, last week I submitted our requested start times on the website, which says it's due on Wednesday April 8th. Sounds like last year's date; however, I was sent an e-mail confirmation that request was successful submitted.

OH NO! I have not heard anything about that. I am the captain, so I guess I better get on that. Thanks for the heads up!

The rain was good, i am not sure i can do that run in HEAT!!!
